The shotgun and Chelsea bun club host a great fun morning out shooting and a real opportunity to meet other shooting ladies.
I have attended two events this year, both of which were held at Atkin Grant & Lang. This is a fantastic shooting ground, set in beautiful mature woodland, well maintained and with a fantastic variety of stands and clays. They have some very experienced shooting instructors there who you are lucky enough to be taught by on the bun club events or gently coached if you are in the experienced group.
Having shot for some time I fall into the experienced shooter group. This means we shoot 75 clays rather than the 30 for everyone else but we bring our own shotgun cartridges. Our event was hosted by Laura Everton a really lovely lady who also shot in our group.
As we moved around we shot a selection of targets, crossers, loopers, driven, they really made the effort to make the round interesting and challenging.
I personally shot well on most of the stands but certainly had a few blips due to lack of concentration. After shooting we had a prize giving in which awards were presented to winner of the the 3 categories, beginner, intermediate and experienced. I was please to take away a prize for winning the experienced shooters group.
I very much enjoyed the relaxed nature of the day and would certainly recommend it for people looking to meet others and experience something new in the world of clay
shooting.
